- 1 cup long-grain white rice
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 large yellow onion sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ cup shredded cheese Gruyère, cheddar, or mozzarella
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Sauté onions in butter and oil until golden brown.
Stir in rice, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and thyme; cook for 2 minutes.
Add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, then bring to a boil.
Stovetop: Simmer on low for 20 minutes until rice is tender.
Oven: Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes covered.
Sprinkle cheese on top, let melt, and serve warm.
