Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 large yellow onion sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ cup shredded cheese Gruyère, cheddar, or mozzarella
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions
 

  • Sauté onions in butter and oil until golden brown.
  • Stir in rice, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and thyme; cook for 2 minutes.
  • Add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, then bring to a boil.
  • Stovetop: Simmer on low for 20 minutes until rice is tender.
  • Oven: Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes covered.
  • Sprinkle cheese on top, let melt, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Substitute chicken or vegetable broth for a different taste.
  • Use brown rice, but increase the cooking time to 40-45 minutes.
  • Add mushrooms, shredded chicken, or bacon for extra flavor.
